TWENTY-EIGHT electric vehicle chargers have been installed in Reflections Holidays parks on the New South Wales Coast, positioned between Byron Shire in the north and Eden in the south, to meet growing demand from travellers as the popularity of EVs continues to rise.
Eight Reflections parks now host the EV chargers, installed thanks to $126,000 in funding from the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water’s EV Destination Charging Grants program. The eight Reflections parks with EV chargers for guest use are: Ferry Reserve, Evans Head, Lennox Head, Coffs Harbour, Bonny Hills, Tuncurry, Eden and Bermagui. The Schneider Electric EV chargers are dual 7.5kwh chargers (ie. each unit has two chargers).
Reflections CEO Nick Baker, who today inspected the newly installed EV charger at Reflections Eden with Dr Michael Holland MP, the Member for Bega, said the addition of the chargers was just one part of Reflections’ efforts to implement measures which reduce its environmental footprint across its portfolio of parks.
“The EV charging stations have been strategically installed from Eden in the south to the shire of Byron Bay in the north and in between and will make charging easy for our guests as they holiday around the State,” Mr Baker said.
“Reflections continually reviews its operations to implement measures which lessen our impact on the environment and use energy more efficiently, and we’re thrilled to instal the chargers as a part of these efforts.”
Dr Michael Holland MP, Member for Bega, said: “I am proud to deliver on NSW Government’s commitment to support the transition to electric vehicles by investing $199 million in the development of a comprehensive and accessible EV charging network across the state.
“Through this grants program, EV charging infrastructure is being strategically delivered along key travel routes, including popular tourist drives along the Far South Coast.
“This initiative aligns with our broader vision to support cleaner transport options, reduce emissions, and enhance the liveability of regional communities. I welcome the installation of EV chargers at Reflections-managed Crown land holiday parks and reserves, which will help facilitate more sustainable tourism and deliver long-term benefits for our local economy.”
Minister for Lands and Property Steve Kamper said: “The NSW Government is focused on building better communities so I welcome this initiative that will support cleaner road trips to great family holidays at Crown land holiday parks and reserves managed by Reflections.”
The EV chargers follow a raft of measures by Reflections to make its operations more sustainable, including:
- Installing 1078 solar panels in eight parks: Lennox Head, Terrace Reserve, Massy Greene, Ferry Reserve, Ballina, Seal Rocks, Moonee Beach, Corindi Beach
- Installing four smart electric meters at Jimmys Beach
- Installing 43 smart water meters in 25 of our parks using mains water
- Establishing a Revolving Sustainability Fund (RSF) with an initial investment of $2.1 million towards sustainability programs. (In FY24, about $650,000 in savings across electricity, gas and water was realised and will be reinvested in the RSF, which increases annually as more sustainability projects bring new cost savings).
