Plenty Training launches industry-first ACE certification to set new standard for VET trainer currency

Plenty Training < 1 mins read

Gold Coast, Australia – Leading Australian Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Plenty Training, has announced the launch of its newest innovation, the Annual Currency Evaluation (ACE) — a program designed to raise the bar for trainer credibility and currency in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.

Developed to address growing concerns around inconsistent trainer quality and transparency, the ACE program offers trainers and RTOs a clear, independent benchmark for confirming industry currency. The four-hour assessment process evaluates a trainer’s current skills and knowledge, issuing a certificate valid for 12 months.

“Through industry consultation, we realised an increasing number of RTOs were voicing a shared concern,” said Ashleigh Ridley, Operations Manager of Plenty Training. “Fields like childcare, construction, healthcare and safety were subject to regular certification renewals and checks, but the trainers and assessors delivering these weren’t necessarily subject to the same.”

The program has already generated significant interest across the sector, with early adopters praising its simplicity, development, and potential to support audit readiness.

With compliance and quality assurance top of mind for many RTOs, Plenty Training says ACE will help organisations clearly demonstrate trainer credibility and meet industry expectations with confidence.

“Whether you're managing an RTO or working as a contractor, ACE proves that you're not just qualified — you're current,” said Ridley.

Broken university governance needs urgent reform after unprecedented federal intervention

The National Tertiary Education Union has urged the federal government to overhaul Australia’s broken university governance system following an unprecedented intervention by the Education Minister. Jason Clare has referred serious governance concerns at ANU to regulator TEQSA, after staff passed a no-confidence motion in Vice Chancellor Genevieve Bell and Chancellor Julie Bishop over a litany of failings. While the government holds special powers over ANU – due to its foundation in federal law – new national and state legislation is urgently needed to fix governance failures across the rest of the higher education sector. NTEU National President Dr Alison Barnes…

Union scores major win for secure jobs at the University of Melbourne

Casual and fixed-term contract staff at the University of Melbourne will be prioritised for permanent jobs ahead of external applicants in a major win for workers. The National Tertiary Education Union's recent win in the Fair Work Commission will force the university to overhaul its hiring practices and meet its obligations to create real pathways to secure jobs for precariously employed staff. The Commission has found that the university breached its enterprise agreement, negotiated by NTEU and voted up by staff last year,by forcing internal candidates on casual and fixed-term contracts to directly compete against external applicants for permanent roles.…
