Mineworkers are celebrating a decision handed down by the Fair Work Commission yesterday in favour of an application for Same Job Same Pay at three large BHP Central Queensland coal mines. The Commission agreed with the Mining and Energy Union that labour hire workers at Saraji, Goonyella Riverside and Peak Downs mines, including BHP Operations Services workers, should be paid at the higher rates of permanent employees. $66 million pay win: BHP Same Job Same Pay win will transform industry

The Fair Work Commission has today backed Same Job Same Pay at three BHP coal mines in Central Queensland in the biggest win so far under new labour hire laws. The landmark decision will lift pay for over 2000 workers and is a nail in the coffin for BHP’s sham labour hire model, the Mining and Energy Union said.
