Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Condemns Anti-Semitic Attacks in Melbourne

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community < 1 min read

Imam Kamran Tahir, the Imam of Adelaide’s largest mosque, Mahmood Mosque, has strongly condemned the recent anti-Semitic incidents in Melbourne, including the attempted arson at the East Melbourne synagogue and the attack on a local restaurant.

Expressing his deep concern, Imam Tahir stated:
“There is absolutely no justification for any act of violence. No one should ever be targeted because of their faith. All Australians should feel safe to practise their religion—whether that is in a mosque, a church, or a synagogue—without fear of attack or intimidation.”

He emphasised the fundamental right of all religious communities to worship freely and without fear. Highlighting the importance of fostering interfaith harmony, Imam Tahir encouraged open dialogue, mutual respect, and solidarity among people of all backgrounds.

Further to this, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community extends an open invitation to all faith leaders and community members to attend its upcoming NAIDOC Week event, to be held at Mahmood Mosque on Saturday, 12th July at 5:00pm. The event will bring together individuals from diverse faith and cultural backgrounds to celebrate unity, respect, and reconciliation.

ALNA backs new laws to protect jobs, small businesses and consumers from shadow-market lottery products

The Australian Lottery & Newsagents Association (ALNA) welcomes the Government’s announcement today to protect small business and consumers from shadow-market lottery products. Today’s release of draft legislation will close critical loopholes in the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (IGA) that have allowed these products to operate largely outside the regulatory frameworks that govern the broader lotteries industry. The measures – including prohibiting foreign matched lotteries - will protect the livelihoods of over 4000 small businesses across Australia, which rely on revenue from state-licenced lotteries. ALNA has been concerned that the unchecked growth of shadow-market lotteries and operators would potentially: Threaten the…
