Buckle Up, Cairns, the cowboys are coming!

Australia’s Best Bulls and Bull Riders Incoming!

The adrenaline is set to surge when the 2025 Monster Energy Cairns Invitational storms into Cairns next weekend, bringing with it over $40,000 in prize money, world-class bull riders, and some of the fiercest bulls in the sport. Images here

This year’s event is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling yet, as the best-of-the-best descend on Cairns for a night of non-stop action.

“With the PBR Australia season reaching its critical final stages, every ride, every second, and every point counts,” said Glen Young, PBR Australia Managing Director.

More than 40 elite cowboys have entered the competition, including a fierce international contingent from Brazil and New Zealand, all chasing valuable championship points in a bid to secure a spot at the $150,000 PBR Grand Finals in Townsville this November.

Riding in Cairns and leading the national standings is Mareeba’s own Kurt Shephard. He holds a narrow edge over Brazilian sensation Luan Camarra, while 2023 Rookie of the Year Zane Hall and three-time New Zealand Champion Riley Ward are making late-season surges in pursuit of the top positions.

Joining them is Victorian Sam Woodall, who clinched the Origin Series win for the Blues, and Beau Willis from Bowen, as well as a heavy-hitting international crew including Brazil’s Diego Galdino, Alison Aguiar, Joao Rigaard Franco, and Kiwi stars Rylee Ward, Darryl McPherson, and Koby Parsons.

The competition won't just be tough—it'll be ferocious, thanks to the six premier bull contractors bringing their best stock to the event:

  • Dittmann Bucking Bulls
  • CF7
  • Finch Rodeo Bulls
  • Dunne Bucking Bulls
  • Kleier Bucking Bulls
  • MJ/Keliher

The spotlight will also shine on the unridden phenom, Alpha Blokes Warden, the MJ/Keliher superstar bull that has already racked up five High Point Bull titles this season. Will this be the night someone conquers the unrideable?

“The Cairns Invitational is where legends are made,” said Glen. “This is more than a competition, it’s a battle of grit, heart, and bullpower. The crowd can expect an unforgettable night filled with edge-of-your-seat drama and world-class athleticism.”

From the first bull of the night to the final whistle, the 2025 Monster Energy Cairns Invitational promises an evening of high-octane, family-friendly entertainment, and the kind of intensity only the PBR can deliver.

Buckle up, Cairns. The PBR is back—and it’s bringing the thunder.
