Award-Winning Feature Documentary ‘The Art Whisperer’ on Pioneering Art Collector Ginny Williams to Premiere in Australia at Revelation Perth International Film Festival

Omagination Pictures 3 mins read

PERTH, AUSTRALIA – July, 2025  – The multi-award-winning documentary film, The Art Whisperer, is set to have its Australian premiere at the 28th edition of the Revelation Perth International Film Festival (RPIFF) in Perth, Australia on July 7th, 2025 at the prestigious Luna Leederville Cinemas. The screening also marks the film’s feature-length world premiere at RPIFF at 60 minutes from the previous 44 minutes run time.

The Art Whisperer is an intimate and insightful portrait of pioneering art collector Ginny Williams (1927-2019), who at the age of 60 started her career in art, and with limited resources in the 1980s, became a devoted champion and helped to legitimize and elevate the work of women artists to global auction sales records, notably, Ann Hamilton, Louise Bourgeois, Roni Horn, Yayoi Kusama, Agnes Martin, Joan Mitchell, and Lee Krasner —who are now icons of the art world, in no small part thanks to Ginny’s vision and support, especially during a time when their contributions were often overlooked.

Many of these artists have strong ties to Australia, through major exhibitions and permanent collections at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, and an ongoing Agnes Martin exhibition at the Ipswich Art Gallery in Queensland.

Directed by award-winning Danish filmmaker Flemming Fynsk whose works have aired on the BBC, Discovery, ARTÉ and CNN, and produced by entrepreneur and philanthropist Elle Williams – Ginny’s daughter, The Art Whisperer has garnered critical acclaim and a recipient of several awards, including the prestigious Jury Award for Best Film at the Santa Fe Film Festival.

Director Fynsk shares, “Ginny was an extraordinary individual who profoundly inspired me, and I am very excited to present her to Perth audiences at the Revelation Perth International Film Festival, an organization that is an absolute fierce advocate of documentary storytelling and independent cinema.”

Produced by Love Today Productions, a company founded by Elle Williams with a focus on films that champion social justice and women's empowerment, The Art Whisperer was filmed over four years, capturing intimate conversations with Ginny Williams about her insights into the art world and her special way of navigating it. The film features valuable insights from art luminaries such as Amy Cappellazzo (Sotheby's) and Richard Armstrong (The Guggenheim Museum), as well as artists Hamilton and Horn.

“My mother was not only a passionate advocate for female artists," says Elle Williams, "but her dedicated efforts played a crucial role in placing their works within the permanent collections of prestigious institutions like the Guggenheim and the Hirshhorn, where she served on the board.”

Omagination Pictures is representing The Art Whisperer for sales strategy and media outreach, and director Flemming Fynsk will be present throughout the run of the festival from July 1-14, and is available for interviews on the ground in Perth. Following the festival, both Director Fynsk and Producer Elle Williams will be available for remote interviews.
