Chartered Accountants ANZ has appointed Damian Ogden as Group Executive of Advocacy, Public and Government Affairs following the retirement of Simon Grant.

CEO Ainslie van Onselen said the appointment follows an extensive executive search: “I am excited to welcome Damian Ogden to CA ANZ from Monday, 28 July,” said Ms van Onselen.

“Damian brings a wealth of experience to the role, with a strong background in advocacy and strategic leadership in professional membership bodies.

“He has a proven track record of driving strong policy agendas through targeted government relations strategies which deliver meaningful outcomes for members.”

Prior to the appointment, Mr Ogden was Group Executive Policy and Public Affairs at Engineers Australia.

“For more than two decades, I have dedicated my career to advocate on issues that are in the national and global interest across complex and varied policy portfolios, and I look forward to bringing my experience to this role with CA ANZ,” said Mr Ogden.

“Accounting plays an essential role in the conception and delivery of major economic reform, and I look forward to engaging with our members, government and other important stakeholders in Australia, New Zealand and across the globe.”

Ms van Onselen has thanked Simon Grant for his extraordinary service to the accounting profession after more than two decades with CA ANZ.

Simon’s impact on CA ANZ and the accounting profession has been nothing short of remarkable,” said Ms van Onselen.

“Since he joined CA ANZ in 2002, Simon has been instrumental in shaping our organisation’s local and international influence. He was pivotal in bringing the global profession to World Congress of Accountants in Sydney in 2018 and he helped assure the successful amalgamation of the Australian and New Zealand professional bodies to create today’s CA ANZ.

“He has also done exceptional work advising governments on the importance of Chartered Accountants and their role supporting well-functioning economies.”
