Lib MP’s threat a failed attempt to silence Family First

Family First Party 2 mins read

The suspension of Family First’s South Australian Facebook page following a threat from a Liberal MP will not deter the minor party, it’s lead Upper House candidate Deepa Mathew said today.

After posting a video critical of the SA Liberals for not fighting the Labor-Green bill to confiscate private land, Ms Mathew received a threat via text message last Saturday night.

Deepa, i am incredibly disappointed in you.

I personally donated to your campaign in Enfield.

I now see you

misrepresenting the Liberal Party position on the Greens

Land Grab Bill.

You have an opportunity to remove that video before I take action.

Family First declined to remove the video and by Wednesday Family First’s SA Facebook page was suspended for an apparent breach of “community standards on impersonation”.

The video highlighting the injustice of the Labor-Green land grab and the Liberals’ failure to even call a division as it was waived through Parliament garnered thousands of views.

The video remains posted on Family First’s national Facebook page and can be viewed here.

However, after appealing to Facebook, the SA page was restored last night.

“Family First will not bow to threats from the Liberals,” Ms Mathew said.

“Family First is contesting the 2026 election because the Liberals have failed to stand up for the families and business community of South Australia.

“Labor and the Greens are getting a free run because the Liberals are asleep at the wheel.

Things have become so bad in the SA Liberal Party that they don’t even recognise the right to private property anymore.

“If elected to the Upper House, I will be the third-party insurance SA families and small business owners need to protect their interests,” Ms Mathew said.

With SA Libs broken and Labor cruising, families need third party insurance

With the South Australian Liberals in crisis and Premier Peter Malinauskus cruising to unfettered power, Family First has urged voters to take out insurance in the Upper House. Lead candidate Deepa Mathew said it was more important than ever that minor parties like Family First were elected to the Upper House to keep what is likely to be a triumphant Labor party in check. “The Liberals are likely to be decimated at the election it will be up to the cross bench in the upper house to keep Labor honest. “Families take out insurance to protect their assets. It is…

Labor must stop propping up dirty gas and support industry to decarbonise

SYDNEY, Monday 8 December 2025 — Greenpeace Australia Pacific has warned the Albanese government against plans to subsidise gas for industrial users, saying it should instead be supporting industry todecarbonise. Media reports today that Labor is weighing up an intervention to start bulk-buying gas and selling it at discounted rates to industrial users, comes as the government is expected to announce an East Coast gas reservation policy in the coming weeks. Greenpeace says the intervention would be at odds with Australia’s commitment to phase out inefficient fossil fuel subsidies, including under the Glasgow Climate Pact and the Belém Declaration on…
