Family First’s Victorian Chair, Jane Foreman, today announced that Family First candidates at next year’s state election will campaign to overturn the Allan Government’s draconian VicGrid Stage 2 laws, which strip farmers of their rights and impose outrageous $12,210 fines for protecting their own land.
“These laws are an assault on property rights, free speech and common decency,” Ms Foreman said.
“Family First stands with Victoria’s farmers in opposing this authoritarian overreach.”
Family First welcomes Liberal leader Brad Battin’s decision to speak at today’s Parliament House rally, but warns that his support will mean little while the Liberals remain committed to destructive net zero policies.
“You can’t defend farmers while backing energy policy that requires wind turbines and transmission towers that carve up their land,” Ms Foreman said.
“Net zero is the root cause of this crisis. That’s why Family First will fight to abandon wind and solar farms in favour of reliable, affordable energy from coal, gas and, ultimately, nuclear.”
Ms Foreman said today’s protest, expected to draw more than 1000 people, was a powerful reminder that country and city Victorians alike are waking up to the cost of the Allan Government’s reckless green agenda.
“The $12,210 fines, lock cutting powers and emergency services tax hikes are just the beginning. Labor is turning Victoria into a green dictatorship. Family First will restore sanity and put farmers, families and affordable energy first,” Ms Foreman said.
