Record Results as Part One of the Ultimate Man Cave Garage Auction Wraps Up

One of the most talked-about private collections in Australia went under the hammer today, as Part One of the Late David Jones AO OBE KstJ’s legendary Cremorne Garage auction delivered outstanding results, with 100% of today's lots sold and over $1.7 million raised.

Dubbed the ultimate man cave, the collection drew fierce bidding and national attention for its rare mix of classic cars, vintage garage gear, and petrol-powered nostalgia.

Top results from today’s auction included:

  • 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT – Sold for $760,000
  • Victorian Heritage Plate ‘6.666’ – Sold for $425,000
  • Wayne ‘Corinthian’ petrol pump (1920s) – Sold for $52,000
  • Rare Dunlop embossed sign (1930s) – Sold for $24,000
  • Rolls-Royce Children’s Pedal Car – Sold for $10,200

The auction, conducted by Donington Auctions, showcases the lifetime collection of the respected former MCC President and Mobil Oil executive, renowned for his keen eye and passion for motoring history.

Australia’s obsession with quality garagenalia and automobilia continues to boom, with items like these commanding strong prices and attracting a loyal following of collectors from across the country.
