Statement on antisemitic attacks

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry < 1 mins read

To be attributed to Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive Paul Guerra:

“The recent spate of antisemitic attacks in Melbourne - including two involving businesses - is disgraceful, disturbing and unacceptable.

“The fabric of our society is built on multiculturalism. It’s what makes Victoria strong, vibrant and successful. The Jewish community - including its business leaders, families and entrepreneurs - play an integral role in shaping our state. To see members of this community targeted again and again is not only deeply distressing but an affront to the values of decency, respect and equality that define who we are as Victorians.

“This is not just an attack on the Jewish community - it’s an attack on all of us and our shared humanity.

“The Victorian Chamber stands shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish community and calls on all Victorians to reject antisemitism in every form. We must not be silent. We must not be passive. And we must not walk past hate.

“Racism, discrimination and hatred are not welcome in our homes, our streets, our workplaces or our communities. Together, we can and must draw a line and say, ‘This ends here.’”
