Acquisition paves the way for international expansion in premium photo printing

MEA, best known in Australia for the Photo Prints Now and Local Prints Now apps, has partnered with Happy Moose, a leading New Zealand photo print studio recognised for high-quality photo printing and handcrafted products. Together, the two companies aim to combine MEA’s global e-commerce platform with Happy Moose’s premium production techniques to deliver high-quality photo printing at scale — raising the bar for customers and paving the way for international expansion.

Happy Moose has built its reputation on seriously good photo prints, meticulous attention to detail, and creative handcrafted products such as collage posters and photo books, produced from its Dunedin studio and delivered online to customers throughout New Zealand.  With a playful brand personality and a loyal following, Happy Moose is now positioned to take its reputation for premium photo printing onto the global stage, supported by MEA’s technology platform that connects thousands of labs and retailers worldwide.

“The acquisition of Happy Moose is where innovation meets craftsmanship,” said Rod Macfarlane, Co-Founder of MEA. “By combining our global platform with Happy Moose’s premium printing expertise, we can scale seriously good photo prints in ways that raise the bar for customers.”

The acquisition builds on MEA’s track record of redefining photo printing through technology, including leading print-on-demand apps such as Photo Prints Now and Local Prints Now. These platforms have connected millions of customers with fast, convenient printing services, and with Happy Moose now part of the MEA family, premium handcrafted products can be offered alongside high-volume retail printing — raising expectations of what photo printing can deliver.

Deal terms were not disclosed. The acquisition closed on 8 August 2025.
