Award-Winning Hospitality Duo Brings Big-City Culinary Sophistication to the Sunshine Coast

Fish House Steak & Grill 2 mins read

Last night marked the official grand opening of Fish House Steak & Grill, the latest venture from Sunshine Coast hospitality duo Kristine and Todd Young, the team behind the award-winning Bella Venezia.

The visionary duo has spent over a decade shaping the success of one of the Sunshine Coast’s most acclaimed and enduring restaurants. Their latest concept builds on a string of industry accolades, including three consecutive Australian Good Food Guide Chef’s Hat Awards and Best Wine List in Queensland, marking an exciting evolution in their hospitality legacy.

With Fish House Steak & Grill, Kristine and Todd are ushering in a bold new chapter, one that speaks to the Sunshine Coast’s rapidly growing appetite for elevated, destination dining experiences.

“We’re incredibly proud of everything Bella Venezia continues to represent, and excited to add a new venture to the family,” Kristine said. “We’re exploring a different expression of who we are with a totally fresh concept that matches the evolution of Mooloolaba, but still keeping it grounded in premium quality and service.”

"There's a real buzz around Mooloolaba right now, and we're thrilled to be a part of it. Mooloolaba is quickly becoming a must-visit for food lovers."

Located at the much-loved Mooloolaba Spit, Fish House Steak & Grill introduces a refined yet relaxed menu that features local produce and a touch of Japanese fusion, with a coastal-luxe aesthetic that wouldn’t feel out of place on Brisbane’s James Street.

“The menu is designed to spotlight exceptional ingredients from our region,” Kristine said. “We’re sourcing line-caught seafood straight from the Mooloolaba wharves, working with local farmers for premium cuts, and offering a dry-aged beef display that adds a sense of theatre to the dining experience.”

“It’s all about offering something that feels right at home on the Sunshine Coast, but could just as easily sit on a city dining strip.”

To bring their vision to life, Kristine and Todd have entrusted the kitchen to Executive Chef Ben Achurch, whose culinary leadership at Bella Venezia has earned consistent critical acclaim. With a career spanning some of the world’s premier dining destinations, both in Australia and abroad, Ben brings with him precision, innovation and a produce-led approach.

“Having Ben lead the kitchen was a natural choice. He brings not only technical excellence, but he also understands our standards, shares our passion, and brings true creativity to the menu,” Kristine said. “Together, we’ve created something polished but approachable.”

The result is a curated menu that balances ingredients from both land and sea – from sashimi-grade Mooloolaba yellowfin tuna and Peachester honey-glazed toothfish, to charred Diamantina Central Queensland Wagyu sirloin finished with a house-made jus.

To round out the experience, guests can enjoy a curated wine list, signature cocktails and an elegant dining space with seating for 130 guests, plus a private dining room for up to 14 people.

Designed to provide all-day dining, Fish House Steak & Grill is open seven days a week from 6:30 am until late, complete with a stylish outdoor dining option serving relaxed dine-in and takeaway fare.
