MEDIA RELEASE

Estia Health is pleased to confirm that Vacenti Aged Care has accepted an approach to acquire their seven (7) residential aged care homes:

  • Estia Health increases investment and presence in Brisbane, Queensland
  • No change in the arrangements for Vacenti residents
  • Continuity of employment for home based Vacenti employees

Vacenti Aged Care have announced that Estia Health will acquire their six operating homes in Brisbane (Hamilton, Coorparoo, Carindale, Mount Gravatt East, Victoria Point, Birkdale) and a new aged care home nearing completion in Cleveland. It is expected that Estia Health will operate the homes from mid-October.

Sean Bilton, CEO Estia Health said, “We are delighted that we are able to increase our commitment of care and services for older people through the management of approximately 750 additional residential aged care places across these seven homes. Providing greater presence in Brisbane to complement our existing home in Albany Creek, and homes in the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast regions.”

Estia Health and Vacenti management teams met with Vacenti’s residents, their families, and employees this week to outline the transition process and respond to questions. Vacenti and Estia Health are committed to working closely together to support residents, their families, and employees through a smooth and successful transfer of ownership and management.

“We are pleased for the opportunity to continue the legacy created by the Casagrande family. We want to assure all residents and their families that they will continue to receive the same dedicated care from the same people that they always have,” Bilton said. “As a provider of 87 residential aged care homes across Australia, we are proud to offer individualised person-centred care and support to our residents and their families at an incredibly important time in their lives.”

Vacenti CEO, Julian Casagrande, said, “We are proud of our family’s legacy of providing dedicated care in the Brisbane community for over five decades. We are confident that as the Vacenti services transition, Estia Health will continue to uphold the values and standards that residents and staff know and trust. Our priority throughout this process has been to ensure continuity of care to residents, and we are pleased that Estia Health shares this commitment.”

Universal Health Coverage Day: RACGP calls out need for better funding for chronic conditions and preventive care

Specialist GPs have marked International Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day by joining the World Health Organization in highlighting the devastating impact of health costs. The Royal Australian College of GPs (RACGP) has stressed that a public health system which forces patients with complex or chronic conditions to pay out of pocket for longer consultations can’t claim to offer universal coverage, and urged governments to protect patients from financial hardship. “Health is a human right,” RACGP President Dr Michael Wright said. “Australia recognises the right of everyone to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health, and our governments are…
