FINSIA CEO & MD Yasser El-Ansary to step-down following major strategic milestone

FINSIA today announced that Yasser El-Ansary will be stepping down from his role as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director on 30 September 2025.

Joining FINSIA in early 2022, Mr El-Ansary came into the organisation to work closely with the Board to define and drive meaningful changes that deliver long-term support for FINSIA’s members in Australia, New Zealand, and around the world.

FINSIA President, David Cox, expressed his thanks to Mr El-Ansary for his outstanding leadership of FINSIA.

“During his time with FINSIA, Yasser has made a significant contribution to the organisation.”

“He led the organisation through a key strategic reset to operating and business models, expanded FINSIA’s learning platform to incorporate microlearning programs and digital credentials, established commercial partnerships domestically and internationally, and increased member satisfaction and engagement via stronger net promoter scores,” said Mr Cox.

Over the last 18 months, Yasser has played a lead role with the Board to put in place a Strategic Alliance with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), a global professional body for the financial services sector, with more than 54,000 members across more than 100 countries. A formal agreement to give effect to the Strategic Alliance was signed by FINSIA and CISI in early September 2025.

The Strategic Alliance will be implemented in November 2025 and will lead to all current FINSIA members transitioning to CISI, marking a significant milestone in FINSIA’s 135-year history.

“The transition of all our members into the CISI international community represents an important long-term change for the benefit of FINSIA members,” said Mr El-Ansary.

“Financial services is an international marketplace and ensuring that all our members have the benefit of being active participants in that global ecosystem is really exciting for the future” he added.

“I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to lead FINSIA through a period of transformation and change, and I’m pleased to have been able to play a key role in creating a bright future for each and every one of our members,” said Mr El-Ansary.

Mr El-Ansary will work closely with the Board to ensure continuity in the implementation of steps to support the transition of FINSIA members to CISI later in 2025. The Board has appointed FINSIA’s Head of People and Culture and Company Secretary, Ms Joanne Becker, to serve as Acting General Manager for the period ahead.
