Shining a light on the world’s largest stateless community

WHAT:           The City of Sydney will today officially launch a large-scale interactive public artwork that aims to raise awareness and connect audiences with the world’s largest stateless population.

 

                       Meeras Pavilion will honour the more than 1.2 million people who have been displaced or fled extreme violence in Myanmar since 2017.

 

Over 3 years from conception to completion, the project has been created by more than 100 community participants and 20 artists, in partnership with Rohingya communities in Sydney and refugee camps in Bangladesh and Malaysia.

 

The 14m x 3.7m structure will come to life through a series of arts, advocacy and community events from 25 September to 5 October.
