HOMIE EXPANDS TO EMPORIUM MELBOURNE WITH NEW PROGRAM TACKLING YOUTH HOMELESSNESS

Tide Communications 3 mins read

Melbourne streetwear label and social enterprise HoMie will open its second store at Emporium Melbourne this October, marking a decade of impact and the launch of its new Retail Ready Program. The new store will expand HoMie’s mission to support young people affected by homelessness or hardship, creating more paid employment and retail training opportunities.

From humble beginnings as a Facebook page in 2015 to a thriving flagship store in Fitzroy, industry-leading social impact programs, and more than 3,900 young people supported, HoMie has become a leader in using fashion to drive social change. The Emporium store marks their next chapter, opening in the heart of Melbourne's CBD and helping provide more paid employment opportunities for young people.

“This is a full circle moment for us,” said Steph Say, CEO of HoMie “Our very first pop-up store was in the CBD almost a decade ago, so to now open a permanent store in the city is incredibly special.

This central, accessible location gives us the chance to grow our programs, connect with the community, and further show that fashion really can create social change.”

The Emporium store is more than a retail expansion; it’s a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together. More than 30 businesses, funders and partners have donated their time, resources and expertise to bring the project to life. Key collaborators include Vicinity Centres, Renascent, Six Degrees Architects and Yeah Good, with further support from other foundations tradies and organisations across Melbourne and beyond. This collective effort represents what HoMie stands for: A community united in backing young people and creating meaningful pathways out of homelessness.

Spanning 180m² across two combined shopfronts, the store reflects HoMie’s design ethos and sustainability focus. The fit-outincorporates recycled materials salvaged from previous tenants, including timber batons, perforated metal, mirrors, lighting and flooring. Inspired by HoMie’s upcycled REBORN collection, the space transforms these elements into an environment that feels raw, creative, and unmistakably HoMie.

The new store will be home to Retail Ready, HoMie’s latest social impact initiative co-designed with young people. The 10-week paid employment program supports up to 48 participants annually with Award-wage employment skills training and wraparound support in a safe, purpose-built environment.

Opening in late October 2025 the store will showcase HoMie’s full streetwear collection while offering a unique retail experience that invites customers to help combat youth homelessness. Every purchase contributes directly, with 100% of profits going towards HoMie’s mission to support young people affected by homelessness or hardship.

ABOUT HOMIE

Founded in 2015, HoMie is a Melbourne-based streetwear label and social enterprise. 100% of its profits go towards their mission to support young people experiencing homelessness or hardship, by equipping them with skills, confidence, and experiences to be more work-ready and better prepared for their futures.

HoMie runs three social impact programs that have supported over 3900 young people since 2015s: The Pathway Alliance, HoMie’s own accredited 8-month long retail training and education program for young people affected by homelessness or hardship; the VIP Program, where young people are welcomed into the store to shop complimentary brand-new HoMie garments, access beauty services, and enjoy lunch with the HoMie team, and the brand-new Retail Ready program, a 10-week paid employment program designed to support up to 48 young people annually.
