It’s time to spread your wings and celebrate! The much-loved Free as a Bird Fiesta & Friends returns this Sunday, bringing together nature lovers, bird enthusiasts, artists, and foodies for a vibrant afternoon at Bridgeward Grove Olives & Art in Goornong, VIC.

Timed to coincide with the end of BirdLife Australia’s Aussie Bird Count Week, this free community event invites everyone to experience the beauty and biodiversity of our local birdlife – and the creativity it inspires.

The Goornong, VIC area is home to an extraordinary variety of native birds, often seen around the property, including New Holland Honeyeaters, Wattlebirds, Flame Robins, Superb Fairywrens, Shining Bronze Cuckoos, Golden Whistlers, Blue-faced Honeyeaters, Sacred Ibis, Egrets, and White-faced and Grey Herons.

“This weekend is about celebrating the birds that fill our skies, our gardens and our imaginations,” say hosts Julie and Peter from Bridgeward Grove. “We’d love people to come along, bring a friend, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon surrounded by nature and creativity.”

The Free as a Bird Fiesta & Friends will feature:

  • Art exhibitions and stalls by local artists inspired by birds and nature

  • Mini market with bird-themed gifts, produce, and crafts

  • Bird-attracting plants for sale

  • Expert tips from the Bendigo Birdwatching Group

  • Delicious food and drink, including mezze plates featuring Bridgeward Grove’s produce, a sausage sizzle, and a licensed bar

More than 100 people are expected to flow through the property’s farm zone for this free, family-friendly celebration.

Media are warmly invited to cover the event or arrange interviews with hosts Julie and Peter, who have created a space that brings together the community through art, food, and a shared love of the natural world.
