LOCAL VOLUNTEERS RECOGNISED WITH

RFSA MID NORTH COAST RECOVERY TOUR

NSW Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA) has paid tribute to the RFS members, volunteers and staff, who dropped everything to help their community in need during the devastating floods across the Mid North Coast region earlier this year.

To say thanks and acknowledge the incredible work undertaken, RFSA has partnered with local musicians Grace + Hugh.  There will be three celebration events happening over the October long weekend: evening events with Grace + Hugh in Taree (3 Oct) and Macksville (4 Oct), and an RFSA Family Day at Billabong Zoo Port Macquarie (5 Oct).

RFSA events are organised to celebrate the work of RFS members and thank them for their ongoing efforts to support our local community and aid the recovery of the region.

RFSA Recovery Events and Family Days are also an opportunity for RFS members to thank their families for their support during times of emergency. RFSA celebrations are a chance for members to rest and recover and also provide access to important mental health support services which are made available onsite at all events.

RFSA President Scott Campbell said the RFSA is committed to supporting volunteer firefighters and their families all year round. “The RFSA is here to support our volunteer firefighters across the state. As demonstrated during the recent floods, RFS volunteers act immediately to respond in times of need, taking time away from their jobs and families to protect people and property,” Mr Campbell said.

“Recovery Events and Family Days are all about recognising what our members do to help others and giving them a chance to relax and enjoy time away from flood, fire and other emergencies. It’s also a chance to celebrate the families of RFS members, as the success and efforts of our volunteers would not be possible without family support and flexibility during tough times.”

Small steps taken but more must be done to protect children from domestic and family violence

Small steps taken but more must be done to protect children from domestic and family violence Barnardos Australia strongly welcomes the NSW Government’s landmark strategy to acknowledge children as victim-survivors of domestic and family violence (DFV) in their own right, but more must be done to protect them. The NSW Government today released its Building Better Responses: NSW Strategy to Respond to the Use of Domestic and Family Violence 2026–2030, which recognises children are often exposed to DFV which can lead to worse health, social and educational outcomes and difficulties with emotional regulation, aggression and mental health. Major funding, including…
