MITCH MOSES JOINS GRNSW & GREYHOUNDS AS PETS AS AN AMBASSADOR

GRNSW 3 mins read

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) is delighted to announce the signing of rugby league star Mitch Moses to an ambassadorial role with the organisation.

Moses now joins his good friend, and recently crowned 2025 Dally M Medallist James Tedesco, as an ambassador with Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) and also promoting the NSW greyhound racing industry.

“When Teddy became a greyhound ambassador earlier this year, we spoke about all the great work being done within the industry around rehoming greyhounds as pets,” Moses said.

“Greyhounds have such a fantastic nature and make wonderful pets and I had no hesitation when I was asked to be an ambassador, supporting both the racing side of the sport, and the rehoming side, when they finish their racetrack careers, become pets, and end up taking over your couch.”

GRNSW chief executive officer Steve Griffin was excited that his organisation has been able to recruit another high-profile rugby league star, welcoming Moses to the team, and adding that he believed Moses, like Tedesco, will bring immeasurable positive publicity to the sport.

“Being able to have someone of the calibre of Mitch Moses agree to join GRNSW and GAP is a real coup for the organisation and industry overall,” Mr Griffin said.

“Mitch, just like James, is a quality individual who is admired by people of all ages, not only for his achievements with Parramatta but also the job he has done for his State.

“He will provide a loud voice for us to extol the qualities of our greyhounds and build awareness particularly around what wonderful pets greyhounds make.

“What pleases me most is that there is genuine buy in from Mitch, just as there is with James. Seeing them both around some greyhounds last week, there was a real affection for, and connection with the dogs.

“I know that everyone within the organisation is looking forward to working with both Mitch and James at events throughout the year such as the National Adoption Day, and at our major feature races.”

Tedesco joined GRNSW in April this year, and helped promoted, and appeared at the hugely successful National Adoption Day in Sydney where 41 greyhounds found new homes.

“I could see the satisfaction and enjoyment Teddy got from being involved with the organisation and particularly his role around National Adoption Day,” Moses said.

“I am looking forward to attending major adoption events, as well as being trackside for some of the big races throughout the year.

“When I’ve been to the track I have seen there is a real synergy between the greyhound racing, and not only rugby league, but all sports and I’ll be doing my best to build on those links.

“As for getting into ownership of a greyhound … I might have to see if Teddy wants to get involved.”

Mr Griffin also offered his congratulations to Tedesco on winning his second Dally M Player of the Year medal on Wednesday night.

“On behalf of Greyhound Racing NSW and everyone in our industry, we congratulate James on a tremendous honour, after a stellar season,” Mr Griffin said.

“I think James is just one of those rare players who, despite what team you may support, you admire and respect what James Tedesco does on the football field, and as I said, we are very fortunate to have quality people such as James and Mitch representing our sport.”

Both Moses and Tedesco will play a big role in the promotion of the Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase (MDC) Grand Final night which takes place at Wentworth Park on October 17.

The pair will also be part of a major promotion planned for the night, with details to be released in the coming week.

After regional events at 16 racetracks around NSW in the past month, the MDC now heads to town this Saturday night with eight city qualifiers to be held at Wentworth Park. Eight semi-finals of the series will be run on October 10 with those winners having a shot at winning $1 million a week later.
