MS Plus puts Victorian HQ on the market.

Sale of Blackburn property aims to secure greater agility, bolster financial foundation, and ensure that MS Plus remains a strong, trusted partner for clients, donors and the neurological community

Post-Covid many organisations have reduced their physical footprint

MS Plus today announced the sale of its Victorian headquarters at 54 Railway Road, Blackburn, a move that strengthens financial foundations, consolidates assets and aligns with the newly adopted Strategic Direction 2025–2027.

The transaction will support improving services for people with MS, their families and the broader neurological community and follows recent developments in Hobart (TAS) Footscray (VIC), and Lidcombe (NSW). It will also enable diversification of income streams and right sizing of its property portfolio to match evolving operational realities.

Chief Executive John Blewonski said the sale reflects responsible stewardship and a future proofing of MS Plus’ long-term commitment to delivering more for clients.

“We are ensuring that every dollar we steward is directed towards improving the lives of people with neurological conditions. This decision strengthens our foundation so that we can continue to grow services, partnerships and community impact.”

Since its earliest days as the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Victoria, which was established in 1957, MS Plus has been part of the national MS movement.

Now, MS Plus, provides NDIS and aged care services and free nursing and educational services in NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and ACT. It also fundraises for MS Australia that facilitates the research and advocacy nationally for MS Plus and other MS organisations.

Through Strategic Direction 2025–2027, MS Plus is investing in modern, efficient ways of working while rebuilding its financial reserves to enable future innovation and impact.

Mr Blewonski said: “This sale represents a deliberate and disciplined decision guided by our strategy. We are stewards of donor and public funds, we will act responsibly, sustainably and always with the client at the centre.

“By revitalising our property footprint, we secure greater agility, bolster our financial foundation, and ensure that MS Plus remains a strong, trusted partner for clients, donors and the neurological community.

“We believe that this change also signals to partners and donors that you are part of the future. Through this strategic step, we are sharper, leaner and better equipped to deepen our impact for people with neurological conditions. Together we can do more.”

In recent years, many organisations have reduced their physical footprint. Hybrid working and hot-desking mean fewer large buildings are now justified.

MS Plus Chief Executive John Blewonski said: “This sale is a strategic and prudent step. The building sale is about positioning MS Plus to be a more effective in responding to the needs of our clients the neurological community more broadly.

The property is being sold through Stonebridge commercial real estate agents – (03) 9088 0055.

Backing down from net zero puts people and communities at risk

The Liberal Party’s decision to abandon the commitment to net zero emissions by 2050 puts people, communities and the environment at risk. This threat is most acute for people and communities experiencing disadvantage, who have least capacity to prepare, adapt and recover from extreme weather events, ACOSS says. “This withdrawal from the emissions commitment, as the global community is gathered at COP, shows indifference to our climate emergency and threatens further harm to people already experiencing the sharpest impacts of climate change,” ACOSS Acting CEO Edwina MacDonald said. “Communities experiencing disadvantage across Australia face escalating threats from intensifying natural disasters.…

Victorian homelessness body warns of irreparable damage without urgent housing investment

Council to Homeless Persons has issued an impassioned plea to the Victorian Government to continue its legacy of bold reforms by funding evidence-backed programs and solutions to the state’s worsening homelessness emergency. Victoria’s peak body for homelessness has used its 2026-27 budget submission to highlight the highest rates of homelessness in living memory, calling for urgent and strategic investments which could turn the tide for the state, which has the lowest share of social housing in the country. “The Victorian Government has a strong track record of bold reform. Our leaders have given us action on Treaty, voluntary assisted dying…
