International Chamber of Shipping disappointed that Member States have not been able to agree

London – The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) comments following the conclusion of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Extraordinary Session of Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) meeting held in London to discuss the Net-Zero Framework for the shipping industry. The framework would have created the first global carbon pricing mechanism for any industrial sector with the aim of delivering a clear path for shipping’s transition to net zero.

Thomas A. Kazakos, ICS Secretary General, said: “We are disappointed that member states have not been able to agree a way forward at this meeting. Industry needs clarity to be able to make the investments needed to decarbonise the maritime sector, in line with the goals set out in the IMO GHG strategy.

As an industry we will continue to work with the IMO, which is the best organisation to deliver the global regulations needed for a global industry.”

Joint Statement from the EV Industry – Australia Can Reduce Fuel Vulnerability by Accelerating EV Charging Infrastructure

23 April 2026 Australia’s recurring fuel shocks are a warning. They show how exposed households, businesses, and the broader economy remain to imported fuel, global price volatility, and supply chain disruption. This is not just a transport issue. It is an energy security issue, a cost-of-living issue, and an economic resilience issue. As businesses in Australia’sEV sector and key industry stakeholders, we are committed to helping solve it. We stand ready to invest, build and operate the public charging infrastructure Australia needs to support the shift away from volatile imported fuels and toward locally powered transport. Under the right policy…

RedBridge polling reveals ending EV Discount will hit outer suburban, blue collar, financially stretched workers most

National polling of thousands of Australians shows the Electric Car Discount is a cost-of-living measure relied on by outer-suburban, blue-collar and financially stretched Australians. The research conducted by RedBridge Group in March-April 2026, drawing on responses from 2,269 novated leaseholders in the largest survey of its kind in Australia, finds the EV Discount is a decisive factor in whether many households can afford to make the switch to electric. Among the findings: A majority of financially stretched families, blue-collar workers, outer suburban residents, and households that speak a language other than English, said the EV Discount was ‘very important’ in…
