Trump and Tariffs spell spell financial bonanza for local  manufacturers as Chinese buyers target Melbourne

More than 300 Chinese pharmacy industry leaders arrive next week for a "hit and run" buying spree in Melbourne.

They are attending the Australia-China Health Products Expo at the National Tennis Centre on Sunday October 26.

The largest pharmacy delegation to visit Australia they represent a $220 Billion industry and 300,000 outlets across China.

More than 70 company chief executives and chairmen are among the delegation.

They are coming because a 100 per cent tariff on Chinese pharmacy products introduced by President Trump  has started a "tit for tat: battle with the Chinese who are now keen to find alternate suppliers for $10 billion of pharmacy products they currently import from the USA

The Chinese are seeking products ranging from vitamins and supplements, honey and wine to traditional baby formula as well as cosmetics for men and women.

Chair of the organising committee, former Victorian MP, The Hon Bruce Atkinson, said the Expo offered Australian manufacturers a wonderful opportunity to impact the massive multi million dollar Chinese market.

"The number of industry leaders in the delegation reflects its importance." he said.

The delegation will only be in Melbourne for a couple of days before returning to China"..

The Pharmacy Guild and the Victorian government havew both been very supportive, Mr Atkinson said
