Appointment of New CEO – Cement Industry Federation

The Cement Industry Federation (CIF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Denise Spinks as Chief Executive Officer, effective 17 November 2025.

Denise brings to the role a wealth of experience in strategic stakeholder engagement and industry advocacy.

Her appointment marks a significant new chapter for the Federation as it builds on an established reputation championing domestic manufacturing, sustainable growth, economic resilience and the meeting the challenge of decarbonising Australia’s cement sector.

With a strong background in strategic policy development and advocacy, Denise has held senior roles in the Australian and Queensland governments, consistently delivering results through collaboration and effective engagement across many industries.

Her pragmatic approach and deep understanding of energy, infrastructure and environmental priorities position her to lead the CIF through a dynamic period of transformation and opportunity.

Rob Davies, Chair of the Cement Industry Federation, said: "Denise is a proven leader with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our industry. Her strategic insights and effective collaborative style will be invaluable as we navigate the evolving landscape facing our industry to remain competitive, profitable and sustainable while working towards achieving net zero emissions. AWU disappointed at Lactalis announcement of South Brisbane facility closure

Today the AWU was contacted by Lactalis Australia to advise that they have announced their plan to close their South Brisbane facility. While we don’t have all the details at this stage, we have been advised that the company plans to close the site on the 10th of July this year and up to 202 direct workers will be affected, along with contractors.
