Greens’ gas-ban plan proves SA needs Family First to take the pressure off families

Family First Party < 1 mins read

Family First South Australian Upper House candidate Deepa Mathew says the Greens’ push to ban gas from SA homes is ideological madness that will hit families already buckling under energy bills.

“In a cost-of-living crisis, the Greens want to rip out people’s gas stoves and force households onto even more expensive electricity. It’s reckless and out of touch,” Mrs Mathew said.

She said the Greens’ $382 million plan — including phasing out gas appliances and cancelling gas exploration — ignores what the government’s own Energy and Mining Department says about the need for affordable, reliable gas to keep the system stable.

“Even the experts admit gas is essential to firm the grid. Yet instead of fixing soaring power bills, the Greens want families, renters and pensioners to pay thousands to electrify their homes,” she said.

“Labor won’t stop it. The Liberals are also wedded to net zero. Only Family First will push back against these extreme net-zero fantasies and fight to take the pressure off families.”

Statement on the arrest of 20-year-old man on terrorism charges

We’re at a beautiful intersection when Ramadan, Lent and Lunar New Year are being observed at the same time. I walked down Murray Street Mall just yesterday and the vibes were amazing. Sadly, this time of celebration has been dampened by the news of another white supremacist being arrested in Western Australia. I learned of this development through the media while attending prayers at my local mosque during Ramadan yesterday evening. I love WA, and I believe that this man isn’t representative of the place that I love and will soon raise my daughter in. Hope will overcome hate.Contact details:…

UPDATED (report link included) Warning signs of new consumer risks amid a concerning spike in super switches of Australians with very low super balances

New research has revealed an alarming spike in the number of Australians with very small super balances and no pre-existing advice relationship now being switched at scale out of the safe, high performing, tightly regulated super system into more expensive and potentially riskier super products. The new data should sound alarm bells about drivers of large-scale, higher-risk super switching where it makes Australians poorer. It highlights the need for stronger guardrails to protect Australians from financial harm. Released today by the Super Members Council, the new aggregated de-identified data shows recent switching activity from mainstream, high performing, tightly regulated funds…
