Markets, music and magic: Willoughby celebrates the festive season

Willoughby City Council 2 mins read

Willoughby is welcoming the festive season with a vibrant mix of markets, music and community events set to bring Chatswood to life throughout December.

At the heart of the celebrations are three unique markets, each offering a different way to shop local, connect with neighbours and soak up the holiday spirit in Chatswood. “There’s something magical about Christmas in Willoughby from our local makers to carols in the park, it’s a time when the community truly comes together,” said Mayor Tanya Taylor. These events support local creatives and small businesses, while giving families the chance to celebrate close to home.”

On Wednesday 3 December, the Preloved Christmas Pop‑Up brings a one‑day market of second‑hand treasures to Chatswood Mall. Run in partnership with local charities and op shops, it’s an easy way to find affordable, sustainable gifts with a bit of history.

The Chatswood Festive Market will be open from 11 to 20 December along Chatswood Mall this year. It will feature local stallholders with handmade gifts, creative crafts and festive food.

Then on Sunday 21 December, the Christmas Market at The Concourse will offer locally made goods, specialty food and thoughtful gift ideas. Families can enjoy live music by The Voice Australia’s Hunter Black, along with creative workshops and activities for children. It’s the perfect spot to find something special while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

Alongside the markets, there are a range of other events and celebrations to help bring the community together this festive season:

  • November/December: Festive Flags designed by local primary students are brightening the Chatswood CBD.
  • Saturday 6 December: Carols at Willoughby Park, featuring the Willoughby Band and Willoughby Symphony Choir. This event will include the presentation of the Festive Flag Awards, celebrating the winning student flag designs from schools across the area.
  • Sunday 14 December: Spirit of Christmas Concert at The Concourse, performed by the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra.
