Score big screen savings: HOYTS kicks off blockbuster season with Black Friday sale

Soda Communications 3 mins read

With a blockbuster lineup on the horizon, HOYTS is kicking off the upcoming holiday season with a Black Friday sale on all Gift Cards, making it the perfect time to get ahead on your Christmas shopping with the gift of movie magic.

Commencing Friday 28 November to Monday 1 December, HOYTS is offering 15%* off all Gift Cards. The discount is available both in-cinema and online via the HOYTS Gift Shop across Australia and New Zealand. In addition to the usual suite of benefits, HOYTS Rewards members enjoy the added perk of early access to the offer.

HOYTS General Manager of Food & Beverage and Retail Michael King said that with so many exciting films set to release, a HOYTS Gift Card is the perfect gift, delivering memorable movie moments to anyone who unwraps it this holiday season.

“A HOYTS Gift Card is more than just a ticket; it’s the gift of movie magic combined with choice. Guests can use it for tickets to any of our cinema experiences, treats from the Candy Bar, menu items from Artie's Bar & Café and HOYTS LUX, or even our exclusive movie merchandise. It’s a gift that lets them enjoy the HOYTS experience their way,” Michael said.

“This summer brings an outstanding lineup of blockbuster releases, from family favourites to action-packed adventures. At HOYTS, we’re proud to offer guests not only the best of the big screen, but also premium comfort where moviegoers can relax and escape the summer heat.”

Releasing on 18 December is James Cameron’s highly anticipated sci-fi epic, Avatar: Fire and Ash. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri in this sequel to Avatar: Way of the Water (2022) - where one year after settling in with the Metkayina Clan, they encounter a new tribe called the Ash People and the conflict on Pandora escalates to devastating consequences.

Boxing Day brings the new action-comedy, Anaconda, starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black who head into the Amazon rainforest to remake their favourite film from their youth. However, everything goes off-script when a giant anaconda actually appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a slithery situation.

Families won’t want to miss The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, releasing 26 December. Where SpongeBob sets out on a mission to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs, diving into the ocean’s Underworld alongside Patrick, Squidward, and Sandy, encountering challenges and uncovering marine mysteries along the way.

Also arriving on Boxing Day is the psychological thriller The Housemaid, in which a young woman accepts a seemingly perfect live-in housemaid job. As she settles into her duties, she begins to sense that her employers are not quite what they seem, and her promising fresh start slowly gives way to the feeling that there’s more to the household than meets the eye.

Beyond a huge range of movies, cinemagoers can elevate their trip to HOYTS with D-BOX Motion Recliners, which move in perfect sync with all the on-screen action, or enjoy HOYTS LUX with in-cinema drinks and dining at their fingertips. At select locations, guests can also enjoy SCREENX, the world’s first multi-projection cinema with panoramic views that surround, and soon IMAX with Laser will join the suite of premium experiences on offer.

HOYTS Gift Cards are available to purchase in a few easy clicks from the AU HOYTS Gift Shop and NZ HOYTS Gift Shop, or you can pick up a physical card from your local cinema.

*15% discount applies to all Gift Cards purchased in cinema and online via the HOYTS Gift Shop between 12.01am 28/11/2025 and 11.59pm 1/12/2025. THE ROAD TO LOVE: HOW FAR WOULD AUSSIES REALLY GO FOR LOVE

NewYouiresearchhas uncovered the unwritten rules of first dates — especially when it comes to how far Australians are willing to drive. The findings show that Aussies are setting firm boundaries on love, with 35% refusing to travel more than 30 minutes for a first date. A national survey commissioned byAustralianinsurance provider Youireveals a clear benchmark: 41% of Australians cap their maximum first‑date drive time at one hour, effectively creating a national ‘one‑hour rule’.
