Warwick’s Callum Miller heads to Canada for PBR Championship showdown

Queensland bull riding star Callum Miller (30 years) is set to take on the world this weekend, competing in the PBR Canadian Championships, one of the pinnacle events of bull riding in North America.

The Warwick bull rider made a lightning-fast return to Australia for the PBR Australia National Championships two weeks ago, marking the first time he had competed in PBR in his home country in 10 years, and was straight back on a plane to continue representing Australia.

Currently ranked 47th in the world, Miller rides for the famed Austin Gamblers in the elite PBR Teams league in the United States. His season this year has been packed with highlights, including a career-best 91.00-point ride on Let’s Roll during the Teams Series in August.

Miller’s recent success includes a victory at the PBR Medicine Hat Classic in Alberta, Canada, and he currently sits 16th in the PBR Canada standings, earning a coveted spot in this weekend’s Championship Finals, a stage reserved only for the top riders in the league.

“Callum is having one of his best seasons to date and will be the only Aussie carrying the flag at this year’s Canadian Finals. Rounding out a great season in Teams, Callum has a strong chance of taking the coveted buckle which offers a $50k guaranteed payday to Finals Champion,” said PBR Australia Managing Director Glen Young.

From his home in Warwick to arenas across North America, Miller continues to prove that Australian bull riders are among the most formidable in the world.

Victorians urge Allan Government: don’t weaken the part of the system that keeps people well

More than 350 community and health leaders have written to Premier Jacinta Allan calling on the Victorian Government to keep VicHealth as a strong, independent and fully funded health promotion agency.A petition supporting the call has already received more than 2,500 signatures and continues to grow as Victorians speak up for prevention and stress that what matters most is “the health and wellbeing of our families and communities.” The letter explains that Victoria must keep a strong focus on helping people stay healthy and well, not just treating them when they are sick, and warns that absorbing VicHealth into the…

The Childlight East Asia & Pacific Hub supports regulation that puts children’s rights and safety first

The Australian Government’s social media age delay is an unfortunate but necessary step to protect children from escalating levels of online sexual abuse and exploitation. For over fifteen years, social media companies have promoted their sites to children and parents as fun, informative and, above all, safe. The evidence tells a different story. Reports of online child sexual abuse have increased every year for two decades, reflecting both the scale of harm and the persistent failure of technology companies to implement basic safety measures. Globally, 300 million children experience online sexual abuse each year, and the majority of this occurs…
