ANMF condemns Bondi Beach mass shootings

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) < 1 min read

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) has expressed its deepest sorrow at the horrific mass shooting at Bondi Beach last night which has claimed so many innocent lives.

We condemn this senseless act of targeted violence on people attending community celebrations for the first night of Hanukkah.

The ANMF and our members stand in solidarity with the Jewish Australian community and the people of Bondi who have been touched by this tragedy.

We condemn this act of extreme violence, hatred and anti-Semitism.

Our deepest condolences are with the grieving families and friends of the victims’ of last night’s horrific mass shooting and those who have been injured, including two police officers.

The ANMF honours the first-responders who rushed to Bondi to treat the wounded, risking their own lives and to the nurses, doctors and health professionals who treated the injured across Sydney hospitals in the aftermath of the mass shooting.

The extraordinary courage, dedication, professionalism and compassion they have shown throughout this crisis embodies the very best of our union and our members.

Our thoughts are with healthcare workers at this tragic time as they continue their vital work in treating the dozens of injured in hospitals.

Prejudice, discrimination and hostility toward the Jewish community has no place in a civilised, Australian society and must stop.
