Relay For Life Returns in 2026 as Cancer Council ACT Calls on Canberra to Help Raise $400,000.

Relay For Life is back in 2026, and Cancer Council ACT is calling all of Canberra to get on track to raise $400,000. All money raised goes towards local life-saving cancer research, support services and prevention programs here in ACT.

The iconic 24-hour community fundraising event returns for its 27th year, bringing together teams, families, and individuals from all walks of life, united in the fight against cancer.

“Relay For Life is a celebration that honours what we can achieve as a community,” said Cancer Council ACT CEO Verity Hawkins. “With almost 1 in 2 Australians diagnosed with cancer, everyone has a reason to get back on track with Relay For Life,”

“By registering for Relay For Life you will be taking a step closer to end cancer.”

In 2025, Relay For Life saw over a thousand relayers getting one step closer to a cancer free future, each with their own powerful reason to Relay.

Among them was Wendy, who walked in memory of her husband, Alain. “He was a very proud father of his two young daughters. He set an example of living in the moment and taking nothing for granted,” Wendy shared. “His gentle nature enveloped us all and his love wraps around us forever.”

CEO Verity Hawkins emphasised the inclusive nature of the event: “We welcome absolutely everyone and whether you join us for a few hours or challenge yourself for the full 24, every step makes a difference”.

Every dollar raised in Canberra stays in Canberra, funding crucial life-saving research, support and prevention services right here in the ACT.

“Together, with your support, it’s all of us against cancer.”
