Planetshakers explores"Peace in a Fractured World" This Christmas

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Melbourne, VIC – December 2025 – As families across Melbourne prepare for Christmas celebrations, Planetshakers Church is inviting the community to discover peace amid life's divisions and uncertainties through special Christmas Day services focused on the theme "Peace in a Fractured World."

With Christmas Day services at 9 AM and 11 AM on December 25 at 400 City Road, Southbank, addressing one of the season's most enduring yet challenging messages: peace on earth.

"'Peace on earth' remains one of the most quoted Christmas ideals, yet it often feels furthest from reality," says Pastor Neil Smith International Director, Planetshakers. "In our current climate of polarisation, outrage culture, and ongoing conflicts, Christmas offers us a vital invitation to pause the hostility and rediscover what genuine peace looks like."

Beyond Political Peace

Pastor Neil emphasises that the peace celebrated at Christmas extends beyond political treaties or ceasefire agreements, reaching into the relational and personal dimensions of everyday life.

"We're not just talking about peace between nations, though that matters deeply," he explains. "We're talking about peace in families torn apart by disagreement, peace in workplaces marked by tension, and the inner peace so many are desperately seeking in an age of anxiety and burnout."

Peace Begins Locally

At a time when global challenges can feel overwhelming, Planetshakers' Christmas message affirms that meaningful peace begins locally and personally—in how individuals treat one another, resolve conflicts, and choose connection over division.

"Peace starts with the person next to you," Pastor Neil notes. "It begins in our homes, our streets, our daily interactions. Christmas reminds us that transformation doesn't require us to fix the entire world—it invites us to start right where we are."

Polluting electricity retailers take from families’ pockets, while Aussies installing renewables are taking charge of their power

EMBARGOED until 6:30pm AEDT Tuesday, 24 February. Anew report from the Climate Council, Power Games: Who’s driving high power bills? reveals that Aussies are being ripped off, while big polluters line their coffers, in part by overcharging millions of us, punishing loyalty and in some cases misleading Aussie consumers. Expensive gas and unreliable coal clunkers drive spikes in prices that hit families and businesses where it hurts. The evidence is clear: without renewable energy, power bills would be even higher. Renewable energy is the only thing pushing electricity prices down, cutting $417 off the average household electricity bill in 2024…
