Hnry raises $30 million in fresh capital.
Hnry will use the funds to grow its Australian and UK markets.
Movac’s Growth Fund led the Series C round.
Sydney, 10 December 2025 – Hnry has secured just over $30 million NZD (approx. $26.1 million AUD) in an oversubscribed Series C raise, led by Movac’s Growth Fund investing in the fintech for the first time, with long-time backer Icehouse Ventures also increasing its stake. The New Zealand–founded company has now raised almost $100 million NZD since launching in 2018.
Hnry is Australasia's biggest and fastest-growing digital accounting service for contractors, freelancers, and sole traders - automating payments, financial admin, and tax compliance for its rapidly growing customer base.
CEO and co-founder James Fuller says the new investment will primarily accelerate Hnry’s growth in Australia and the UK, markets that together represent more than five million sole traders.
“Movac has a strong track record in taking local companies global, so having them on board at this stage of our journey is incredibly powerful.
“Our Australian market has grown sevenfold since 2020, with tens of thousands of sole traders using Hnry across every profession - tradies, NDIS workers, graphic designers and more. Independent data shows Hnry customers save 5 hours in admin time per week and 75% of the cost compared with those who use alternative solutions that require an accountant and add-on services to manage their tax and finances - and Hnry does it all in real time,” says Fuller.
Movac General Partner Jason Graham says the fintech is at an exciting inflection point.
“We invest in high-performing New Zealand and Australian technology companies with proven international markets and scalable business models. Hnry has all of that. We’re excited to support their rapid expansion in Australia and the UK, especially with the UK’s shift to digital taxation presenting a major opportunity to scale,” he says.
One of the new products is Mileage by Hnry, a free mileage tracking app for Hnry customers - or available at a very low cost to any sole trader - that automatically records and logs all business trips. Fuller says research showed many sole traders weren’t claiming mileage because it was too difficult or existing apps were too expensive.
“Just one month after launch, Australian users were already claiming hundreds of dollars in mileage, and 75% of users are tradies who’ve never made a mileage claim. Twenty per cent of Hnry customers already use it, and uptake in Australia is twice as fast as in other markets. There’s strong demand for technology that simplifies being self-employed,” he says.
Hnry also became the first accountancy service in the world to offer a debit card linked to a dedicated business account, with transactions automatically tracked and reconciled. In the last four months, Australian sole traders have loaded $10 million onto their cards and spent $6.5 million on business expenses, receiving instant tax relief as purchases are categorised in real time.
Fuller says the Series C funding will support a wave of new innovation and product development across all markets.
“We’re just getting started. Sole traders don’t want to spend hours on admin or be stuck in accounting software each week; they want to grow their business and enjoy a better work–life balance. Hnry gives them that freedom. Our mission is to continue designing and delivering tools that make their lives easier in ways no one else in the accounting sector has achieved.”
As part of the round, Movac’s Jason Graham will join Hnry’s board.
