FUZHOU, China, Dec. 11, 2025 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/--

Fuzhou has recently been honoured as one of China's "Most Happiest Cities", a title shared with ten other provincial capitals and cities specifically designated in the state plan, at the Happy Cities Forum 2025 held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

The "Most Happiest City" survey and selection campaign, together with the Happy Cities Forum, are organized by Xinhua News Agency's Oriental Outlook . Having been conducted for nineteen consecutive years, it remains one of China's most influential urban survey initiatives.

This year's campaign, themed "Practising the People-Centred City Concept to Create a Better and Happier Life", commenced in August, with 220 cities and urban districts nationwide nominated. Following a rigorous evaluation, the "2025 Most Happiest Cities" series lists were officially announced.

Fuzhou, known as the "Blessed State" and the "Cosy City of Banyan Trees", has diligently adhered to the core principle of the "3820" Strategic Initiative (an outline of Fuzhou's social and economic development goals in 3-year, 8-year and 20-year plans, compiled in 1992) in recent years, significantly accelerating its transformation into a modern international city. By 2024, its economic output had secured the eighth position among provincial capitals nationwide.

What is the secret to Fuzhou's happiness? The answer lies in it's tapestry of all-around efforts: its profound cultural heritage of Fujian culture, which nurtures a humanistic atmosphere of contentment; its stunning coastal landscapes that create picturesque scenes; its vibrant entrepreneurial soil that cultivates prosperous industries; its urban environment that consistently enhances public welfare for all ages; and its leisurely and poetic lifestyle that embodies joy and happiness. These depict the essence of Fuzhou's happiness - born of its unforgettable landscapes, flourishing through its daily vitality, and sustained by its dynamism. It is a city that invites visitors to linger and ensures they are eager to return.
