HOYTS Blacktown rolls out the red carpet for IMAX? with Laser

HOYTS 3 mins read

HOYTS Cinemas has just unveiled its new premium offering – IMAX® with Laser – now open at HOYTS Blacktown. Cinemagoers can look forward to crystal clear, lifelike images and precision audio for a moviegoing experience unlike anything else.

The upgraded auditorium boasts the world’s most immersive film experience, featuring next generation laser projection and a multi-channel sound system exclusive to IMAX locations. The experience makes its debut for audiences to witness the highly anticipated Avatar: Fire and Ash in IMAX.

HOYTS Group CEO and President Damian Keogh said the introduction of IMAX with Laser at HOYTS Blacktown reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering world-class cinema experiences to more Australians.

“HOYTS Blacktown now offers local audiences an immersive, technically advanced movie experience, reflecting our ongoing investment in bringing the best of cinema to our guests,” Damian said.

“This new offering strengthens our premium suite of experiences at HOYTS Blacktown and ensures we continue to meet the growing demand for entertainment in one of Western Sydney’s key lifestyle destinations.”

IMAX with Laser is set apart by its 4K laser projection system featuring a new optical engine and a suite of proprietary IMAX technology that delivers crystal clear images, increased resolution, deeper contrast as well as the most distinct, exotic colours ever available on-screen. The new experience also features next generation IMAX precision sound, delivering greater dynamic range for ultimate audio immersion.

Avatar: Fire and Ash has been digitally re-mastered specifically for the new system with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology to take advantage of the increased sharpness, brightness, contrast, colour and other attributes it can deliver. The process enhances the image frame-by-frame and remixes the soundtrack to transport audiences beyond their seat and into the world of the film.

With IMAX with Laser, guests at HOYTS Blacktown will experience:

  • Crystal clear IMAX Laser projection – providing increased resolution, sharper and brighter images, deeper contrasts as well as the widest range of colours available to deliver the most life-like visuals;

  • Next-generation IMAX precision sound – delivering perfectly tuned sound, evenly distributed throughout the cinema.

Craig Brown, Centre Manager Westpoint, said the new IMAX offering at HOYTS will give local families and movie lovers another exciting reason to visit the centre.

"The addition of HOYTS IMAX with Laser comes at a perfect time for school holidays and Christmas, giving families an exciting new way to connect and enjoy experiences together,” Craig said.

“We’re always taking a community-first approach and following our recent upgrades to the dining and entertainment precinct in 2023, we’re excited to continue expanding family-friendly spaces and offerings.

“With HOYTS IMAX now part of the mix, the centre offers a truly well-rounded destination for families, teens, and the many multicultural communities that call Blacktown and surrounds home.”

HOYTS Blacktown offers guests a diverse range of premium cinema experiences, including SCREENX, D-BOX Motion Recliners, Xtremescreen, Daybeds and HOYTS’ signature powered recliners. The addition of IMAX with Laser further differentiates the cinema, positioning HOYTS Blacktown as the premier movie destination in the area.

Following the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, the IMAX screen at HOYTS Blacktown will soon showcase the sci-fi thriller Mercy and the anticipated animated release Scarlet.
