Soda Communications 3 mins read

HOYTS Cinemas has just unveiled its new premium offering – IMAX® with Laser – now open at HOYTS Melbourne Central. Cinemagoers can look forward to crystal clear, lifelike images and precision audio for a moviegoing experience unlike anything else.

The upgraded auditorium boasts the world’s most immersive film experience, featuring next generation laser projection and a multi-channel sound system exclusive to IMAX locations. The experience makes its debut for audiences to witness the highly anticipated Avatar: Fire and Ash in IMAX.

HOYTS Group CEO and President Damian Keogh said the new state-of-the-art offering at Melbourne Central answers the growing demand for premium experiences in the heart of the city, giving audiences access to the very best in cinema technology and comfort.

“We are proud to introduce IMAX with Laser at HOYTS Melbourne Central, delivering a more immersive and technologically advanced cinema experience that continues to raise the standard for moviegoing in Australia,” Damian said.

“This addition firmly positions HOYTS Melbourne Central as Victoria’s premier cinema and a world-class entertainment destination.”

IMAX with Laser is set apart by its 4K laser projection system featuring a new optical engine and a suite of proprietary IMAX technology that delivers crystal clear images, increased resolution, deeper contrast as well as the most distinct, exotic colours ever available on-screen. The new experience also features next generation IMAX precision sound, delivering greater dynamic range for ultimate audio immersion.

Avatar: Fire and Ash has been digitally re-mastered specifically for the new system with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology to take advantage of the increased sharpness, brightness, contrast, colour and other attributes it can deliver. The process enhances the image frame-by-frame and remixes the soundtrack to transport audiences beyond their seat and into the world of the film.

With IMAX with Laser, guests at HOYTS Melbourne Central will experience:

  • Crystal clear IMAX Laser projection – providing increased resolution, sharper and brighter images, deeper contrasts as well as the widest range of colours available to deliver the most life-like visuals;

  • Next-generation IMAX precision sound – delivering perfectly tuned sound, evenly distributed throughout the cinema.
