FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Hubfoods launches new Battered Fish & Chips - Classic comfort, made accessible
Sydney, Australia – 1.12.2025 - Hubfoods, a leader in ready-made and texture-modified meal solutions, has launched two new products bringing one of Australia’s most recognisable pairings - Battered Fish and Chips - to residents who require modified diets.
The new Hubfoods PU4 Battered Fish and Hubfoods PU4 Golden Chips are individually developed products designed specifically for texture-modified menus. Each component is texture modified, shaped, and snap frozen to lock in authentic flavour while ensuring safety, ease of eating, and consistent presentation. The products can be served together as a complete meal or used separately to increase menu variety. Both items are IDDSI Level 4 approved.
The new PU4 Battered Fish: A smooth, puréed white fish blend shaped into a familiar fillet-style portion. Snap freezing preserves the natural flavour of the fish while delivering a soft, cohesive texture suitable for texture-modified diets.
The new PU4 Golden Chips: A puréed potato product shaped into chip-style pieces, developed to offer recognisable flavour cues and simple portioning while meeting the requirements of residents who cannot safely consume traditional chips.
Early trials in aged care have been extremely positive. Hardi Aged Care, Anglicare Sydney, and St Vincent’s Care Services, all existing users of Hubfoods, have all conducted resident taste testing and reported strong approval, high engagement at mealtimes, and enthusiastic feedback asking for both products to become part of regular menus.
“Everyone deserves to enjoy the meals they grew up with,” said Matt Rawe, National Business Manager of Hubfoods. “By offering Fish and Chips as separate texture-modified products, we’re helping kitchens bring nostalgic comfort foods back to residents in a way that’s safe, inclusive, and easy to prepare.”
Key Product Benefits:
  • Puréed and snap-frozen to maintain flavour and quality
  • Designed specifically for texture-modified diets
  • Consistent shape and portioning for easy plating
  • Suitable for aged care, healthcare, and specialised foodservice
  • PU4 Battered Fish and Chips can be used together or separately for menu flexibility
The new Hubfoods PU4 Battered Fish and Hubfoods Chips are available now through approved distributors nationwide, including PFD, Superior and selected Countrywide and NAFDA members.

National genomic screening program would save thousands of Australians from preventable cancer and heart disease

Leadinggenomic health experts from Monash University are calling for urgent government funding to progress the development of a national preventive genomic testing program that would save thousands of Australians from conditions like cancer and heart disease. This call to action follows a Monash-led nationwide pilot study recently completed, offering free genomic screening to 10,000 Australians aged 18 to 40. The pilot tested for 10 medically actionable genes linked to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, Lynch syndrome, and familial hypercholesterolaemia. The findings are published today in the inaugural edition of the new academic journal Nature Health. The pilot study was led…
