North Sydney Council < 1 mins read

North Sydney Council is proud to announce the winners of its Christmas Drawing Competition, a creative initiative that invited local primary school students to share their artistic vision of Christmas in the community.

Open to students from Kindergarten to Year 6 who live in or attend school within the North Sydney Local Government Area, the competition attracted many imaginative entries that reflected the joy, colour, and spirit of the festive season.

After a careful judging process led by Mayor Zoë Baker, three standout artworks were selected for their originality, artistic merit, and ability to reflect the unique character of Christmas in North Sydney.

The winning artists are:

  • Hazel, Kindergarten, Anzac Park Public School

  • Liam, Year 3, North Sydney Public School

  • Melina, Year 5, Cammeray Public School

Their winning designs have been professionally printed and featured on Christmas street banners displayed across North Sydney throughout the festive period, transforming public spaces into a celebration of youthful creativity.

Mayor Zoë Baker said: “This competition goes beyond festive decorations - it’s about amplifying young voices and nurturing creativity. By giving children a public platform to share their vision, we celebrate imagination, foster artistic growth, and showcase the remarkable talent thriving in our local schools. North Sydney is proud to make youth creativity a visible part of our festive celebrations.

Council thanks all participating students, families, and schools for their enthusiasm and support. Installed across the LGA, the banners add a joyful splash of colour and Christmas spirit to the streets.
