Queensland Ballet Education Programs 2026

Learning through Dance

Brisbane, 13 January, 2026; Queensland Ballet’s Education programs are specifically designed to engage teachers and students of all stages and introduce them to the art of movement and ballet. Reaching over 4300 students annually, the 2026 Queensland Ballet (QB) Education program comprises three main components, In-School Workshops, Immersion Experience programs at the Thomas Dixon Centre and Professional Development programs for Teachers.

Developed and coordinated by experienced Registered Teacher, Kath Cadd, a highly skilled educator with over 15 years’ experience teaching and leading Dance and Performing Arts subjects in Queensland schools, each program is aligned with Queensland curriculum and syllabi, and reflects QB’s commitment to providing robust and inspiring learning opportunities that serve and resonate with students and educators across Queensland.

“We’re proud to deliver rigorous, imaginative and joyful arts experiences, and to play a part in helping to ensure that learning in, through and about the arts continues to thrive in Queensland schools.  We warmly welcome and encourage enquiries,” Cadd said.

The popular In-School Workshops consist of dynamic and engaging year-level appropriate learning opportunities, exploring content including storytelling through movement, choreography, STEAM, historical contexts and diverse viewpoints, suitable for students of all abilities and experience.  This includes workshops exploring First Nations content and ways of working, co-developed and in consultation with First Nations educators, Traditional Owners and arts workers, following protocols and appropriate permissions.

The Immersion Experience Program provides students with the opportunity to explore career pathways within the arts, observe Company classes, participate in curriculum-relevant practical dance workshops as well as gaining insights from various Queensland Ballet staff.

“We absolutely loved the Immersion. It has now become a standard part of our Year 12 Dance external exam preparation. The scheduling, unique opportunities, balance of practical and theoretical work and inclusive nature of the program were all brilliant.” Head of Department, Bray Park

The Professional Development Program for Teachers equips teachers with curriculum-relevant, classroom-ready strategies and resources for generalist Primary teachers, Arts Specialists and Secondary Dance teachers.  Our education team collaborates with First Nations educators, as well as other arts workers and arts organisations to deliver creative, practical and interesting content.

Launched in 2013, and developed by a team of leading education specialists, the QB Education programs are meticulously aligned with the EYLF, ACARA v9 The Arts (Dance) curriculum and the QCAA Senior Dance syllabi.  The programmes have grown to reach 4300 annually.

Queensland Ballet Education programs are created to enrich and support the work teachers do every day in Queensland classrooms, offering students new ways to move, communicate and create. Queensland Ballet is proud to play a part in helping to ensure that learning about the arts continues to thrive in Queensland schools.
