Barnardos Unbound Art Show kicks off at the Royal Botanic Garden with works from iconic and emerging artists

Barnardos Australia is this year expanding its annual Unbound Art Show, which will return to the Royal Botanic Garden in Sydney this month as a two-week long public exhibition for the first time.

The exhibition will be open to the public at The Garden Gallery from February 13th to the 24th between 10am and 4pm with free entry.

A ticketed opening night event will take place tonight, giving people the chance to view artworks and bid before the auction closes that evening.

This year’s show includes established and emerging artists, including donated works from Ken Done and Ben Quilty.

The money raised will go towards securing the future of a highly valued and busy community centre in regional NSW.

The Bundaleer Community Centre on the NSW South Coast helps keep children and families experiencing challenges stay connected and supported through playgroups, food relief and other supports.

Barnardos’ event coordinator Bella Armstrong said the event had grown from strength to strength thanks to support of passionate artists.

“What started as a one night fundraiser is morphing into this celebration of art and the ability to explore themes of place and belonging, and reflect back to us how important those places are, especially for children.

“Our contributing artists and everyone working towards this fundraiser are driving something that is joyful and hopeful, while also making a material difference when it comes to a very real and dire issue in Australia,” Bella Armstrong said.

"Honoured to support Barnardos, helping little people grow up safely should be everyone's priority,” artist Ben Quilty said.
