GRNSW UNVEILS JETPETS AS NEW INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL PARTNER

GRNSW 2 mins read

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) is delighted today to announce a new partnership with Jetpets Australia for its international Pet Placement Program.

Late last year GRNSW undertook an extensive tender process through BDO Australia with the evaluation panel having selected Jetpets Australia as the successful tenderer.

“We have seen the great success of our International Pet Placement Program in the United States and Canada since its inception in January 2023,” said GRNSW Chief Executive Officer Steve Griffin.

“While GRNSW is looking to put even more emphasis on domestic pet placement, we understand and see the International Program as a key part of our rehoming strategy.

“I want to thank BDO Australia for overseeing the tender process and GRNSW is delighted that we have been able to attract a quality provider with an extensive background in pet transportation, as our successful tenderer to run our international program.”

GRNSW undertook a comprehensive review of the International Rehoming Program, including careful consideration of the cost findings which were outlined in the Drake Inquiry. The Inquiry was highly critical of the historic cost structure of the program, particularly in relation to boarding, staging, and transport inefficiencies under previous arrangements.

“While the key focus was on ensuring the welfare of our animals being paramount during the transportation process, we were also very pleased that Jetpets Australia will be able to save us a significant amount per greyhound, with those savings to be invested back into all of our pet placement programs,” Mr Griffin said.

Jetpets Australia is a long-established International Pet Transport provider and the first in the Asia-Pacific region to receive IATA CEIV Live Animals Certification. Not only do Jetpets Australia have a team of expert Pet Travel Consultants and Pet Handlers but the organisation also has on hand a resident veterinarian.

“Jetpets is extremely proud to announce that we have been selected to manage the transportation for the Greyhound Racing New South Wales international greyhound pet placement program,” Jetpets Australia founder Sandy Matheson said.

“At Jetpets, we are passionate about animal welfare and feel honoured to support this incredible program.

“We are committed to ensuring that every greyhound is transported safely and comfortably on their international journey, where they will begin the next chapter of their lives in their forever homes.”

The GRNSW International Pet Placement Program was paused while the tender process was undertaken, but following the partnership with Jetpets Australia, the Program will now recommence immediately.
