PRESS CONFERENCE ALERT: Imam Syed Wadood Janud of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Perth extends his gratitude to law enforcement agencies for their vigilance and swift action

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Perth 2 mins read

Perth, Australia – Friday, Feb 27, 2026 – The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Western Australia will hold a crucial press conference at 6:00 pm (Perth time) today at Nasir Mosque, Perth’s largest mosque, in response to the alleged terrorist plot announced earlier today by Western Australia Police and the Premier of Western Australia.

This follows a press conference by WA Premier Roger Cook, who stated that a 20-year-old man has been charged with preparing to commit a terrorist act, allegedly targeting several public buildings and Muslim places of worship across Perth.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community strongly condemns all forms of extremism, violence, and hatred. We reaffirm that terrorism and white supremacist ideology stand in complete opposition to the teachings of Islam and the values of Australian society.

The worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, has consistently spoken against all forms of extremism and hatred. He has stated:

“Extremism of any kind, whether carried out in the name of religion or nationalism, only breeds hatred and destroys peace. True peace can only be established through justice, mutual respect and compassion for all humanity.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community extends its gratitude to law enforcement agencies for their vigilance and swift action. We also stand in solidarity with all communities who may feel concerned following today’s announcement.

As we hear this shocking news, we want to use this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to peace, interfaith harmony, and the safety and unity of all Australians.
