The Salvation Army Welcomes Captain Leisa Humbley as New Corps Leader at Carindale, Brisbane South

The Salvation Army is pleased to announce the appointment of Captain Leisa Humbley as the new Corps Officer of the Salvation Army’s Carindale Corps, bringing more than thirteen years of leadership experience and a deep commitment to community-focused ministry.

Captain Humbley has served in diverse roles including Corps Officer of Nambour, Chaplain with Employment Plus, Divisional Women’s Ministries Coordinator, and most recently as Queensland Ministries Secretary with the National Youth & Young Adults Team. She has also contributed to national leadership as a member of The Salvation Army Australia Governance Board.

Leisa’s Background:  Before entering ordained ministry, Captain Humbley worked 13 years as a commercial insurance broker, arranging general insurance across business and trade sectors while completing a Diploma in Financial Services (Insurance Broking). She holds a Certificate IV in Youth Ministry, a Bachelor of Theology, and a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.

Captain Humbley is passionate about investing in the personal and spiritual development of people of all ages, advocating for those facing hardship, and helping individuals experience the love and grace of Jesus.

I am honoured to serve the community of Carindale and surrounding region,” Captain Humbley said. “I look forward to building relationships, serving alongside the congregation, and continuing the strong legacy of community outreach and worship that Carindale is known for.

About Carindale Corps:  The Salvation Army Carindale Corps is a vibrant and community-oriented church, committed to worship, connection, and practical service. The corps offers a broad range of programs designed to support families, young people, seniors, and those experiencing vulnerability.

Key ministries and services include:

  • Family Worship (Sundays 9:30am): A weekly gathering focused on worship, teaching, prayer, and community connection.
  • Kids’ Church: Sunday program for children aged 3–12, helping young people grow in faith and community.
  • Youth Group (Fridays): A fun and engaging program for high school aged young people. School aged young people. ‑school‑aged young people.
  • Small Groups: Pastoral care, Bible study, prayer, and fellowship in home‑based settings.
  • Mainly Music: Weekly programs supporting babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their caregivers.

  • Family Store (Tuesday–Saturday, 8am–2pm): Providing quality second-hand goods and a welcoming space for community connection.
  • Salvos Connect (Tuesdays & Thursdays): Food and emergency relief services, financial assistance referrals, and a free coffee and chat for anyone in need.
  • Employment Plus: On-site employment services offering training and support for job seekers.

These ministries reflect the heart of the Carindale Corps: caring for people, creating pathways for faith, building healthy communities, and working for justice.
