The partnership brings together WinDC’s modular, high-density AI data centres deployed directly at renewable generation sites with Yirigaa’s nationally recognised capability in workforce development, cybersecurity and community-led delivery. Together, the organisations will support the expansion of sovereign, renewable-powered AI infrastructure across Australia, extending advanced digital capability beyond metropolitan data centre hubs and into regional markets.

Australia continues to face rising renewable-energy curtailment driven by grid congestion and transmission delays. WinDC addresses this challenge by moving compute to the source of clean power, enabling stranded renewable energy to be converted into high-value AI infrastructure and digital export capability. The partnership with Yirigaa ensures this infrastructure delivers durable economic and employment outcomes for regional and First Nations communities.

“Australia’s AI future will be shaped by where and how we build infrastructure,” said Andrew Sjoquist, Founder and CEO of WinDC. “For too long, we have assumed advanced compute has to sit in metropolitan areas and compete for scarce grid capacity. That model is slow, expensive and increasingly misaligned with where Australia’s lowest-cost, clean energy is produced.”

“WinDC’s approach is to move compute to the power, not the other way around,” said Jonathan Staff, Executive Director of WinDC. “Partnering with Yirigaa allows us to scale sovereign, renewable-powered AI infrastructure in regional Australia in a way that is faster to deploy, lighter on the grid, and designed to deliver lasting national and regional benefit.”

Through the partnership, Yirigaa will support the operation and scaling of WinDC’s renewable-powered AI facilities by delivering workforce training, accreditation and employment pathways in AI, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure and data centre operations. Programs include school-to-career pipelines through Yirigaa’s YARN (Yirigaa Academy Recruitment Network), training and accreditation in partnership with NSW TAFE, and place-based employment pathways aligned with Closing the Gap priorities.

“This partnership is about turning opportunity into reality,” said Yawun Mundine (Bundjalung–Wiradjuri), Founder and Group Executive CEO of Yirigaa. “You cannot close the gap through aspiration alone. It requires real jobs, real careers and long-term pathways into future-defining industries. WinDC’s model allows us to bring those opportunities directly to regional communities, on Country, where they belong.”

The partnership aligns with Federal and State Government priorities in renewable energy, regional development, sovereign digital capability and national security. WinDC’s infrastructure provides zero-scope-2-emissions AI compute, while Yirigaa contributes a security-cleared, ISO 27001–certified workforce and DISP membership to support the operation of critical digital infrastructure to national standards.

Media are invited to view the WinDC Modular Data Centre when the first of WinDC’s modular AI Factories arrives in Australia in March, providing a firsthand look at Australia’s next generation of sovereign, renewable-powered AI infrastructure. Media enquiries should be directed to Pru Loon.

About WinDC

WinDC is the missing link between energy and AI. We provide modular, renewable-powered AI Factories and data centres, delivering Australia’s AI and energy future. By placing compute directly at the source of clean power, WinDC replaces the slow, expensive, grid-constrained traditional data centre model with AI infrastructure that deploys up to 8 times faster, runs at up to 50 per cent of the cost, and operates on up to 100 per cent renewable energy.
