GBP K.K. has announced the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Ibaraki City, located approximately 150 kilometers north of Tokyo, as part of its strategy to strengthen global supply chains for energy and data center infrastructure.

The new facility comes at a time when global markets are facing increasing pressure from the rapid expansion of data centers and renewable energy projects. At the same time, aging grid infrastructure, extended lead times for critical electrical equipment, and ongoing supply chain uncertainties are creating significant challenges for project developers worldwide.

By establishing a domestic production base in Japan, GBP aims to address these challenges by enhancing manufacturing reliability and improving delivery timelines for key electrical components.

The Ibaraki facility will manufacture a range of products including transformers, junction boxes, collection boxes, replacement solar panels for discontinued models, and cables. The site will also serve as a central quality control hub, ensuring that all products meet stringent Japanese manufacturing standards and deliver high levels of safety, durability, and performance.

“Global demand for reliable electrical infrastructure is accelerating, driven by the growth of data centers and the energy transition,” said a spokesperson from GBP K.K. “This new facility allows us to provide high-quality, Japan-manufactured products while strengthening supply chain resilience for our customers worldwide.”

The company noted that products manufactured at the facility will support international markets, providing an alternative supply source that combines consistent quality with improved logistical flexibility. Looking ahead, GBP K.K. plans to expand its presence across key global regions, including North America, Europe, and Australia, while continuing to deliver solutions that support the evolving needs of energy and digital infrastructure.
