IFM INVESTORS FLAGS UP TO $10 BILLION INVESTMENT INJECTION INTO CANADA OVER THE NEXT DECADE

Thursday, 5th March 2026 2 mins read

Global pension capital investor, IFM Investors (IFM), today announced that the right policy settings could lead to a further C$10 billion invested in Canada over the next 10 years, seeking risk-adjusted returns for working people’s retirement savings.

The intention comes as IFM signed an historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) alongside Australian and Canadian pension funds and their investment organisations in Sydney yesterday.

Australian and Canadian pension funds are leaders in infrastructure investment, co-investing on behalf of workers and retirees in roads, ports, energy, water, and data centres, globally.

Funds managed by IFM are already invested in key Canadian infrastructure assets alongside Canadian pension funds, including Global Container Terminals in Vancouver and Enwave Energy.

Enwave provides reliable, commercial, sustainable district energy solutions at scale for municipalities, commercial developments, universities, hospitals, data centres and residential communities in the cities of Toronto, London, Windsor, Markham and Charlottetown.

IFM Investors opened an office in Toronto in late 2025, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Canada and its more than 200 Canadian institutional clients.

Australia’s superannuation system is growing at such a rate that roughly 60 cents in every new dollar that workers contribute to Australian super funds is now invested overseas. IFM Investors is scouring Australia, Canada and all over the world for the best deals to grow members’ retirement savings.

Quotes attributable to IFM Investors, Global Head of Infrastructure, Kyle Mangini:

“With the right policy settings in place, IFM intends to invest up to C$10 billion in Canada over the next decade, supported by our expanded presence with the opening of our new Toronto office.”

“Canada is an attractive investment destination for IFM. We look forward to identifying new opportunities for future infrastructure investment.”

“We are proud to invest alongside Canadian pension funds – including infrastructure assets across Australia and Canada. Through our investments, we invest, protect, and grow the long-term retirement savings of working people globally.”

Are online marketplaces driving?a decline?in?shopping?experience?

Australians are learning that a familiar brand logo no longer guarantees the shopping experience they expect. Major brands including Bunnings, Kmart, Woolworths and Big W now run online marketplaces where third party sellers list products alongside retailer-sold items.   “These ‘endless aisles’ philosophy dramaticallyexpand product range, but they also create confusion around returns, delivery, quality and accountability,” said Vanessa Walker, managing editor of Money magazine.  Complaints appear across online reviews about theseonlineretailermarketplaces, with shoppers pointing to split shipments, extra fees and inconsistent delivery timelines for purchases made on trusted retailer websites. “Many consumers don’trealise they have crossed from a retailer to a third-party marketplace, and that gap in…
