Chennai Bulls Selects have been crowned Bowl Champions at the Tradition HKFC 10s, defeating HKFC Natixis 14-10 in a thrilling final at the Hong Kong Football Club. It is a historic result - the first international tournament title won by an Indian rugby franchise, claimed on one of the sport’s most prestigious stages in its landmark 40th anniversary year.
The victory caps a remarkable three days of rugby at the Hong Kong Football Club during Hong Kong Sevens week. Running since 1986, the HKFC 10s is one of rugby’s most respected invitationals, and this year’s expanded three-day format - marking its 40th anniversary - brought together elite clubs and representative sides from across the globe. The Bulls Selects, the development side of the Chennai Bulls, competing as an Indian franchise for the first time in the tournament’s history, leave Hong Kong as champions.
HISTORIC FIRST
The tournament also marked another milestone for Indian rugby: Hitesh Dagar became the first Indian player ever to score at the Tradition HKFC 10s - a moment that underlines the Chennai Bulls Selects’ mission to develop and showcase Indian talent on the world stage.
“Winning at the HKFC 10s is deeply satisfying, but for us it is about something bigger. Through the Chennai Bulls, we are building a truly global rugby franchise - one that competes at the highest level internationally, develops Indian talent alongside world-class players, and puts Indian rugby on the world stage for the right reasons. This trophy is a validation of that vision, and we are just getting started.”
