HOYTS unveils world-leading LED movie experience at Melbourne Central flagship cinema

HOYTS continues to redefine the moviegoing experience with the launch of HOYTS APEX at its flagship cinema in Victoria, introducing guests to new world-leading LED technology which brings movie moments to life on a super-sized LED cinema screen.

With HOYTS Melbourne Central as the flagship home of this revolutionary format, the cinema will deliver a more immersive and lifelike way to experience movies, setting a new standard for premium viewing experiences.

At over 21 metres wide and powered by more than 17 million pixels, HOYTS APEX combines scale with precision. Its fully acoustically transparent LED display allows sound to pass directly through the screen, aligning perfectly with on-screen action to create a seamless, true-to-source audio-visual experience.

The HOYTS Group CEO and President Damian Keogh said the launch reinforces HOYTS’ position at the forefront of cinema innovation.

“HOYTS APEX represents a defining moment for HOYTS and for cinema more broadly, setting a new benchmark for what the big screen experience can be,” Damian said.

“What sets APEX apart is its combination of a curved LED screen of spectacular scale, cutting-edge LED technology delivering true pixel perfection and Dolby Atmos surround sound, bringing every moment to life with remarkable clarity and depth.

“We’re proud to introduce this new format at Melbourne Central, reinforcing its position as the leading cinema destination in Victoria.”

Unlike traditional projection, HOYTS APEX uses direct-view LED technology to deliver significantly higher brightness, deeper blacks and exceptional contrast, resulting in more vivid, lifelike images across every scene.

Chairman and CEO of GDC Technology, Dr. Man Nang Chong said HOYTS APEX is powered by the latest LED technology, delivering the most advanced big-screen experience available today.

“The LED system behind HOYTS APEX offers 30 times better picture contrast and millions more pixels than traditional cinema projection, resulting in remarkable clarity and detail,”

“The screen itself is acoustically transparent allowing sound to pass seamlessly through the movie, so audio aligns precisely with what is on screen creating a level of immersion and precision unlike anything Australian cinemagoers have experienced before.”

With HOYTS APEX, HOYTS continues its long-standing legacy of pushing the boundaries of cinema, delivering experiences that cannot be replicated anywhere else.
