Nursing leaders to gather to mark International Nurses Day 2026

The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) Foundation is celebrating International Nurses Day by bringing together influential nursing leaders, community figures, and supporters at a celebratory fundraising event in Brisbane.

The International Nurses Day luncheon will raise funds for the Bullwinkel Scholars Program, which provides essential leadership education for Australian nurses serving in rural, remote, military, and First Nations communities.

Guests will enjoy live music, a panel discussion, a fashion parade, a raffle and auctions.

Host Liz Murrihy will lead the discussion, with the following panellists:

  • Adjunct Professor Shelley Nowlan FACN – Former Australian Deputy National Rural Health Commissioner (Nursing and Midwifery) and Former Chief Nursing Officer Queensland
  • Dr Zachary Byfield MACN – National Director Nursing Education, ACN
  • Major Bree Looker MACN – Bullwinkel Scholarship Recipient 2025
  • Arun Thomas MACN – ACN Foundation Fundraising Committee Chair & ACN Foundation Scholarship Recipient
