A Safe Home Changes Everything: Women’s Housing Company launches fundraising campaign to support women in crisis
SYDNEY, NSW, 19 May 2026 – The Women’s Housing Company (WHC) has launched a new fundraising campaign, A Safe Home Changes Everything, calling on the community to support women and children experiencing homelessness, domestic and family violence and financial crisis.
Developed in partnership with Kaimera Media Agency, the campaign highlights the urgent reality facing many women across New South Wales, where access to safe, secure housing can mean the difference between ongoing instability and the opportunity to rebuild a life.
At the heart of the campaign is a simple message: when a woman has a safe place to call home, everything changes.
Women’s Housing Company provides crisis accommodation and safe, stable housing, alongside support and empowerment programs to help women and children recover from trauma, rebuild confidence and create pathways to long-term independence.
CEO Nada Nasser said the campaign is a call to action for the community to stand alongside women during their most vulnerable moments.
“When a woman is facing homelessness or escaping violence, she isn’t looking for temporary relief – she wants a fresh start,” Ms Nasser said.
“A safe home is the foundation for everything that comes next. It provides the stability a woman needs to recover, connect with a supportive community and begin rebuilding her life with dignity and confidence.”
The campaign invites donations to directly support women and children in crisis, ensuring access not only to housing, but also to the support services that make long-term recovery possible.
“At Women’s Housing Company, we see every day how transformative safe housing can be,” Ms Nasser said.
“Your gift today helps a mother tuck her child into a warm, safe bed, knowing they are secure – not just for tonight, but for the future. It means safety, stability and the opportunity to thrive.”
With demand for housing support continuing to grow, community generosity plays a critical role in expanding access to safe and affordable homes.
“Through the generosity of our supporters, we are not just providing a place to live – we are creating pathways to hope, opportunity and lasting independence for women and their children,” Ms Nasser said.
The registered charity is encouraging individuals, businesses and corporate organisations to contribute to the campaign and help change women’s lives.
Case study
Andrea* came to Women’s Housing Company at one of the most difficult times of her life. Escaping domestic and family violence in her home state, she arrived in New South Wales with nothing but her three young children and pregnant with her fourth.
She was uncertain about the future, carrying the weight of trauma and financial stress, and unsure how she would keep her family safe. With the support of people just like you, Women’s Housing Company helped Andrea find a safe and stable home. She then accessed wraparound services that helped rebuild her confidence and independence.
In a secure environment, Andrea was able to focus on healing, building her skills and exploring new opportunities for employment. With tailored support, she developed a pathway into work in the care sector and has now successfully transitioned into a private rental. Her story shows what is possible when women have access to safe housing and the right support.
