FolioFox is teaming up with Dettori Publishing to bring a pre-press workshop for self-published and indie authors to Melbourne on Saturday July 25th at the City Library from 10:30am. Tickets are available here.
Co-hosted by Ann Dettori, Founder and CEO of Dettori Publishing, From Manuscript to Print is an educational lecture-based workshop that will equip aspiring authors with the knowledge, expertise and tools they need to self-publish their own books. The workshop will go for a duration of 90 minutes, and tickets can be bought for AUD$25 each. Emerging Writers Festival members will also receive a special 20% discount on tickets.
The workshop is a direct response to the lack of resources and guidance in the Australian publishing industry for self-published authors in comparison to the rates at which indie authors are choosing to publish their books without traditional publishing intervention. A report from the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) titled The Big Indie Author Data Drop 2025 found that indie authors in Australia are making more money and growing at a healthier rate when compared to those who are traditionally published. It’s more important than ever for prospective self-published authors to have the correct tools to set themselves up for success in this growing alternative market.
FolioFox is excited to join forces with Ann Dettori to co-host this essential self-publishing pre-press workshop. As the Founder and CEO of Dettori Publishing, an organisation that oversees both Post Pre-press Group and Independent Ink, Ann has vital experience of working to create and distribute resources and services to support both traditional publishing companies and corporations (Post Pre-press Group) and indie authors in self-publishing (Independent Ink). With an insight into publishing on both sides of the traditional and indie spectrum, Ann’s expertise in the publishing industry is invaluable for prospective self-published authors who want to achieve success in the independently-published market.
In addition to the lecture-led workshop, attendees will also be given a comprehensive workbook containing an overview of the key points explored in the workshop, as well as tools and resources for continuing their self-publishing and printing journey at the conclusion of the day’s events.
FolioFox understands the lack of resources available to the fast-growing cohort of indie authors in Australian publishing and aims to provide this segment of the market with the right tools to reach their readership through this workshop.
